It's still sinking in. Something has gone horribly wrong. We're still not sure what is going on but we are together and that's a start.
Luckily I have a good support group. Most of us were gaming at our little get together called Kwik-con when the shit started hitting the fan. It's not so much we were prepared, but we were together. Communication has become difficult and we are trying to get things in some semblance of order. We were at my house for the gaming, so my family was here and since we were gaming, we had plenty of snacks and drinks. So that's not been an issue so far. It will become an issue and we are going to have to cross that bridge shortly. B-Dog, B-Rad and I are fairly local, so we have our families here at my house. Kwicky is from the Toledo area and we are about 5 hours from there. He has had contact with his wife and she and the kids are safe so far. They have barricaded themselves in the house and have food. Kwicky lives on a farm and has a generator, so they should be safe for a short while. It almost seems like a good idea to go there, but there are many more of us here and transporting all of us is more of a problem, plus if this goes on for awhile, it gets cold around Toledo in the Winter. D-Bro and Nina live an hour from here and had 1 of their children with them. One of their daughters was at home and hasn't been heard from yet and their other 2 children were with D-Bro's first wife. We have heard they are OK, so far, but the details were sketchy. Toby and D-Matt are single, so no one at home to worry about. B-Rad has his wife and 2 kids and B-Dog has his wife and child with us. So there are 17 of us and a dog in a 3 bedroom bi-level waiting to see what happens.
What happened? We're still not sure. While we were taking a break from our C'thulhu game we noticed weird reports on the TV. There were outbreaks of attacks being reported for no reason. We at first thought we were watching one of those reality type TV shows made to seem real and scare your pants off. We changed the channel and there it was again and again. The reports seem to indicate that people are going mad and attacking other people for no apparent reason. We haven't heard what is actually going on, but the reports of attacks are growing in number and it's not safe to be out for any great length of time, if at all. We have heard of reports within our town, so we know that we need to stay cautious. Stores have closed. We have seen what we assume are employees at the local supermarket. They have signs up saying not to approach and that they are armed. That is going to be an issue before too long. We still have power, but who knows for how much longer. It's not Summer yet, so we have some time before worrying about the cold. The reports are starting to get censored at least the reports we can get. It's like they don't want us to actually know what's going on.
We have seen neighbors in 3 of the houses adjacent to ours. We don't have any guns in our house, so that may become an issue if defense becomes needed. My father is an ex-police officer, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him so far. I now he has guns and ammo in his house, but do we make a trip without protection to get protection? We are still hopeful, in a small way, that this issue will get rectified and that life will go on as usual.
