Post 2...

It was a difficult night. I saw my daughter riding a large white dog. I was very confused, so I followed to see what was going on. She road the dog to our local park where there were 2 large trash dumpsters sitting open with huge amounts of flies buzzing around. When she got there she jumped off the dog and leaped into the dumpster. I ran up to see what was going on while I gagged due to the awful smell. I looked in and saw my daughter among a mass of dead bodies. This startled me enough to wake me. I immediately got my wits about me and found my daughter sleeping next to my wife. Needless to say, there wasn't any sleeping for me after that. So, I went to sit with D-Rad who was on watch at that time. We have been keeping a constant vigil on what is going on outside. He said he saw scattered people walking the street and yards around the house. We are keeping the house as dark as possible during the night and trying to keep noise to a minimum at all times. We have all seen "them" at one time or another walking around. They are not hard to spot. They are dirty, vacant looking, and don't look very healthy. I wouldn't normally even think of them as being dangerous except for the news accounts and they are not a normal sight in our neighborhood.

Apparently, I was a little naive on the food situation. We have gone through it faster than we should have. I guess we got the nervous munchies and weren't thinking. Now we have to come up with a plan to get food. We've got a lot to discuss there.

It looks like D-Bro and Nina are going to try to get to Kokomo to look for their daughter. We have tried to talk them out of it and to keep our numbers up. I understand why they want to go, I would feel the same way if one of my kids was missing. We have convinced them to have Alex stay with us. On the same front Kwicky is wanting to get his family, but he knows 5 hours is a much bigger effort and he has had contact with them. So, it looks like we'll lose 2 of us in the short-term, but hopefully we'll not lose any of us in the long run.

I still haven't been able to get a hold of my dad. I know he has guns and ammo at his house. I have given into the fact that we are going to need them. We have never had guns in the house, due to the kids, but we need them now. My dad's house is about 15 minutes from here, but here's the rub, I don't want to leave my family to try to get the guns and I don't want to take my family out into whatever is out there. I am their protector, at least that's the role I want to play. I don't think I'll have to decide today, but I need to discuss the options with my wife.

Well, that's all for now. If anyone out there has any more info or wants to share where they are, please don't hesitate to let us know your situation.
